Intero Foundation Celebrates Reaching $1M in Endowment With Donation of $20,000 to Blind Babies Foundation

Largest single donation to date to be presented at Blind Babies Foundation’s 2016 Bay Area Beeper Egg Hunt March 19

The Intero Foundation, a non-profit devoted to helping children in need, announced today it has achieved the $1 million mark on its endowment, just four short years since its inception. To celebrate this meaningful milestone, the Foundation chose to donate $20,000, its largest single donation to date, to Blind Babies Foundation (BBF), a local program of Junior Blind that has supported the early development of blind infants and preschoolers for over 65 years.

The $20,000 check will be awarded at the BBF’s 16th Annual Bay Area Beeper Egg Hunt being held on March 19 at the California School for the Blind in Fremont, California. Since it was founded, the Foundation, which is funded, promoted and governed by Intero agents and employees, has raised over $4 million.

“Reaching the $1 million endowment mark within only four years and sharing this important occasion with Blind Babies Foundation, is truly a pivotal moment for Intero, our agents and employees, who work diligently to strengthen our Foundation,” said Lana Morin Pierce, Intero Foundation President. “Blind Babies Foundation embodies our mission to support children who are most in need throughout the Bay Area, and we look forward to supporting similar local grassroots nonprofits for years to come.”

“Blind Babies Foundation is honored to be the recipient of this special grant award from Intero Foundation,” said Julie Bernas-Pierce, Blind Babies Foundation Program Director. “This generous gift and new partnership will provide life-changing services for infants and preschoolers who are blind or visually impaired living in San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and southern Alameda Counties.”

About the 16th Annual Bay Area Beeper Egg Hunt and Blind Babies Foundation:

Blind Babies Foundation is a unique community resource in Northern California that provides critical early childhood development services to young children with vision loss and parent education services to their families.

BBF’s 16th Annual Bay Area Beeper Egg Hunt is free to its families and allows children who are blind or visually impaired to take part in the traditional activity of an egg hunt by using specially designed beeping eggs. Children hear the sound, find the eggs and turn them in for treats and goodies. In addition to the egg hunt, children and their families enjoy fun activities, such as arts and crafts tables, a tasty lunch, and of course, a visit from the Beeper Bunny! For additional information visit www.juniorblind.org/Beeper
